Under A Cranberry Sky Review

Under A Cranberry Sky

By Holly Martin

Genre: Christmas, Romance

I was given a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. 3/5 singing chickadees!

Piper writes hotel reviews and has traveled the world doing it. When she comes to review Stardust Lake Hotel, she is surprised to find the only man she ever truly loved, who broke her heart, is running the place. Things have changed since they were both 17, but their chemistry hasn’t. Gabe has a daughter now and Piper finds herself falling in love with little Wren as well. However, Gabe’s overprotective siblings work at the hotel as well and believe Piper is the one who broke Gabe’s heart.

I absolutely loved the setting of this book. Such a perfect place to read about to get in the Christmas mood! How delightful to read the author’s notes at the end and find out it’s based on a real place. I also liked main character Piper and her backstory was very complete and explained her personality. She was very relatable and I loved seeing her open her heart and learn to trust. I enjoyed reading about the secondary characters- the ones with a backstory, but even just the villagers who live in the town.

This book is pure romance, but I wish it had more of a plot outside of the romance. That may just be because I’m not a fan of pure romance, I would rather it be just one part of the story. My only other complaints are that the story dragged a bit at times and the only real conflict was wrapped up quickly.

The story is heartwarming and definitely a great fit for fans of romance. I really enjoyed the secondary character that the next book will be based on and am looking forward to that.
