Hello there, beautiful bookish peeps! As you know, we here at Chick Lick Chickadees are participating in the ReReadathon and Shelf Sweeper 2014 book challenge (Our Original Post Here) hosted by Beauty and the Bookshelf (Original Post Here) and Shea Lit (Original Post Here). We’ve each committed to reading 8 books each this month in order to sweep our shelves!
Last week, Elizabeth was one book in (The Little Lady and the Prince) and starting on her second (The Moment Between), while Lindsey was struggling to finish her first book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. You can find last week’s update here.
The good news is Lindsey FINALLY finished The Habits book (she thought she’s NEVER get through it!), and busted out John Green’s Looking for Alaska(which seriously almost broke her…).
The bad news is, she kind of got distracted and started re-reading Beautiful Disaster (after getting inspired by Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Oblivion event). THEN, since she was in a really crummy mood Saturday morning, her husband made an emergency book store run during errands so she could be happy again. The sad thing is, her new book, Midnight Thief, ended up being a total letdown (be sure to check back on August 3rd to find out why!).
She’s back on track, however, and is about halfway through A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. Next up, she’s planning on tackling Real Marriage by the Driscols.
It will be difficult to stay focused since Rainbow Rowell’s Landline just came in the mail, Kate Jarvik Birch sent Perfected for the Amazing Travelling Book contest, and Elizabeth just lent her Matched by Allie Condie.
Still, Lindsey is determined to succeed by finishing the remaining 5 books on her list in the next 13 days! Well, we’ll see how far she gets, anyways…
As for Elizabeth, she finished the Moment Between by Nicole Baart, which was not what she expected, and will be sharing the review in about a week. She started reading Pants on Fire by Meg Cabot today and realized she had already read it before! So Pants on Fire will be replaced with Perfected by Kate Jarvik Birch, which she will read while traveling. If she decides to start a book before Perfected gets here, she’s planning to read “Just One Day next” or stay in order, which would make Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult next.
Who’s doing the reading challenge with us?? If so, where are you?
