About Elizabeth

Hello and welcome to our book blog! My name is Elizabeth and I teach Jr. High English by day and book blog by night. I love sharing amazing books with my students and helping them find the love of reading. I discovered the love of reading at a young age and was thrilled when as a 4th grader, I had finished all the 4th grade books and was allowed to go pick out stories from the 5th grade classroom.

My reading tastes as a youngster varied. I enjoyed reading about other lands like in The Phantom Tollbooth and The Wizard of Oz. I also loved reading about interesting girls like Pippi Longstocking. As an adult, I read “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and was introduced to the world of Chick Lit. It is my favorite genre, especially when I don’t want to think too hard, but dessert all the time does not make for a good book diet. I sprinkle my Chick Lit with mystery novels (both cozy and intense), legal dramas (Picoult and Scottoline, for example), suspense/thrillers (I can handle violence in a book much better than on TV), and Christian Fiction. I also enjoy reading the occasional non-fictional book. Some of the ones that have had a huge impact on my thinking are The Family Nobody Wanted, As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl, and Bloom: Finding Beauty in the Unexpected. I enjoy reading about families and parenting, even though I am only a Fur Mommy for now. I read books about teaching as well.

I hope that through this blog I get to know other readers. We can swap recommendations and dig deeper into the world of literacy. I can’t wait to meet you all!
