The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan Review

The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan Review

Genre: Chick Lit

Author: Whitney Dineen

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Wow, this book was amazing!!! I love fun chick lit books and this one certainly delivered! Mimi is in her thirties and ready to settle down. She meets Elliot, an author whose book she secretly loves, and immediately decides he is stuck-up and arrogant. However, she can’t deny her insane attraction to him. Elliot seems to feel the attraction, too, so Mimi can’t understand why he is almost engaged to another woman. Mimi also has three sisters who she has always considered perfect and she feels like she doesn’t match up.

I adored Mimi. She had a good sense of humor. She was very sweet and cared deeply about her friends and family. I like that Mimi always tried to do the right thing. She refused to lead a man on unfairly. I also liked that Mimi became a strong, independent woman. She realized she couldn’t wait around forever for Elliot to make a move and did what she had to do for herself.

The story kept my interest the whole time. The writing style was very engaging. The secondary characters were likeable and I enjoyed reading about them and their lives. I didn’t actually like Elliot as much as I liked Mimi’s other love interest, but there are a lot of male love interest in chick lit books that I don’t like. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes chick lits! I would love to read more from this author in the future.

“Winging It” Book Review

Title: “Winging It”

Author: Christine S. Feldman

Pages: 63

Genre: Novella, Chick Lit, Romantic Comedy

Sorry about our hiatus, followers! As you know, I’m a teacher so the end of the school year has me busy, busy, busy! This is a short review because it’s a pretty short story. Let’s get to it!

This was a very cute book! It’s more novella than novel. It all takes place one night. Simon’s mother has invited him to yet another blind date in her attempt to get my grand babies. On his way there, a woman jumps in his car and tells him to tail somebody and his life is forever changed. He and Juleen have hilarious adventures and mishaps tracking her grandfather’s bird. Simon realizes that he doesn’t want the “perfect” life and wife his mother is trying to carve out for him. He wants to “wing it.” This was a very cute, funny, romantic story.
